Our highest priority at Errigal Civils is the Health & Safety of our employees, supply chain and everyone affected by our work activities.

We pride ourselves on having an outstanding Health & Safety record and we are committed to maintaining a safe working environment for all of our employees and promoting our health and safety culture is something we strive to continue with and to improve.

Health and Safety Commitment

At Errigal Civils Ltd we do not just talk Health and Safety, we put it into practice. Our aim is for zero incidents on all of our sites to ensure everyone who is affected by our activities go home safely to their families each day.

Our company health and safety policy forms the backbone of our corporate culture and ensures that Health and Safety is not a bolt on extra but the fundamental feature of our day-to-day activities.

Our Safety Director is supported by a dedicated Health and Safety Department with professionally qualified advisors who are all committed to promoting a positive safety culture throughout the company.

Monitoring
Health and Safety is monitored by our supervisors on a day to day basis supported by regular site visits and audits by our contract managers. Along with our internal health and safety staff we use professionally qualified health and safety advisers to assist with our processes and to ensure we comply with our statutory obligations. This system allows us to identify areas for improvement to ensure our standards are as high as they can possibly be.

Training & Qualifications
Our monitoring and review procedures allow us to identify where gaps in our health and safety capability exist. Skills, knowledge and experience of our staff is of paramount importance to ensure Errigal Civils provide the best service possible. Our commitment to providing a high level of on-going training helps to maintain and improve our standards.

Site specific inductions are undertaken by all staff prior to starting work. Risk assessments and method statements are read and understood before each task is carried out and staff are actively involved in developing safe systems of work. Tool box talks on pertinent topics are delivered by our site supervisors on a regular basis to assist in our company and employee development.

Errigal Civils are committed to having 100% of our employees accredited to the appropriate CSCS/CPCS qualifications.

Documentation
In addition to all of the health and safety documentation we produce to comply with legislative requirements we have developed ‘Team Safety Packs’ to ensure all of our site staff are fully aware and their responsibilities. The packs are particularly useful for transient sites when the provision of a permanent site office is not possible as they contain all of the documentation required for the management of health and safety on site.

Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015

We regularly undertake the role of Principal Contractor on projects managing sub-contractors and working closely with the Client, Principal Designer and the rest of the design team to ensure that all foreseeable risks associated with the project have been reduced as far as reasonably practicable.

For each project we prepare project specific construction phase health and safety plans which include all of our procedures for managing the project and dealing with high risk activities.
